Quality can be defined as fitness for intended use. While we will help you develop a more specific QMS, here is our general approach:
1. Reaffirm to all personnel at your organization with a formal announcement that the company is going for a formal QMS.
2. Initiate the project with a Benchmarking Assessment- sometimes also called a "gap analysis."
3. Develop a QA Manual and Tier-II and Tier-III procedures and work instructions to meet the standard of your choice: such as ISO 9001:2015, 10 CFR 50 App. B and/or NQA-1.
4. Perform safety classification of your components and parts.
5. An effective Approved Suppliers List (ASL) will need to be developed.
6. Your measuring instruments will need to be calibrated by a quality supplier with traceability to the National and International Standards.
7. You will also need effective programs for: Nonconforming Material Control, Corrective and Preventive Actions, Internal Audits and Records Keepings.
